DIRECTOR
Alba Gil
My name is Alba, which means sunrise in Spanish. After years of working as an AD in the busy and vibrant Mexico City film industry, my husband and I immigrated to Montreal more than a decade ago. I went through the ranks once more in Canada, eventually finding a path in Canadian produced true-
crime docu thrillers, eventually directing my own episodes of Award winning series for Discovery and National Geographic.
As luck would have it, it would be back in Mexico that new projects began to brew, first directing seven of the eight episodes in the super successful Netflix series "Triptych" and lately on "The Secret Of The River" (to be released this year) and most recently finalizing my feature film debut "The Diary" for Amazon Studios.
Whether it’s through filmmaking or photography, I approach storytelling from an openhearted and curious gaze hoping to capture honest moments that I find in life and retell through the camera lens. Trilingual in Spanish, English, and French -fluid also in Italian, when I'm not somewhere in the world directing or traveling, I live with my husband, son, and dog in Montreal.
